Writing Good Sentences

A sentence is a group of words that tells a complete thought. Every sentence needs some important parts!

What is a Sentence?

A complete sentence needs:

1. A subject - WHO or WHAT the sentence is about
2. A verb - What the subject DOES
3. Capital letter at the beginning
4. Punctuation at the end (. ? !)

Example:
"The cat (subject) sleeps (verb)." ✓
"Sleeps on the sofa." ✗ (no subject)
"The big cat." ✗ (no verb)

Types of Sentences
Statement - tells something (ends with .)
- "I like pizza."
- "The sun is shining."

Question - asks something (ends with ?)
- "Do you like pizza?"

Exclamation - shows strong feelings (ends with !)
